The Bertha Bartlett Public Library offers a variety of services to all patrons.

 

Programs

Programs at the Bertha Bartlett Public Library are free (unless otherwise noted) and open to the public. 

Book Clubs: The Bertha Bartlett Public Library offers two monthly book clubs

  • Bartlett Book Club:  4th Tuesday at 2 pm in the meeting room
  • Timberland Book Club: 1st Thursday at 2 pm at Timberland Village in the conference room.

Knit Pickers: Our knitting group meets weekly on Fridays at 10 am. Bring whatever hand work you like and enjoy an hour of fellowship with other knitters and stitchers.

Special Programs: We offer special programming throughout the year. Please watch for details in our Events Calendar, on our Facebook page or in the library. If you have ideas for programs you would like to see, please contact the library at berthab@storycity.lib.ia.us.

 

Services

Proctoring:
To meet the needs of students and institutions of higher learning, the Bertha Bartlett Public Library agrees to cooperate with patrons and institutions to support their lifelong learning goals by offering proctering services during the library's open hours. This free service is available based on the availability of personnel, facilities and technology. The student is responsible for contacting the school and library to schedule services. Please call well ahead of your scheduled test date and provide us with the date of your test and to verify that your test has arrived. Call 515-733-2685 to make arrangements.Tests and test instructions may be emailed to berthab@storycity.lib.ia.us.

 

Computers:
The library has four desktop computers and six laptops computers available for public use in the library.
All provide unfiltered Internet access and printing is $0.10 per 8-1/2 x 11 page for black and white, and $0.50 per 8-1/2 x 11 page for color.

We also provide free wireless access, so feel free to bring your own devices and get hooked up on your own. Please ask at the desk for our wi-fi password upon your first visit to the library.
 
Computer Requirements and Limits:

  • All computer users must sign in at the circulation desk to use a desktop computer or to check out a laptop.

  • There is a time limit on use of the computers. Time may be extended for extenuating circumstances, if other computers are available. Please notify staff if you need extended time limits.

  • Consumption of food and drink is not allowed at the computer stations.

  • Reservations, by phone, for the computer are only encouraged for testing or other similar situations.

  • Users may not change the configuration of software or hardware on the Internet computers.

  • Patrons must have their own disks or drives in order to save files – both from the Internet and for word processing. ABSOLUTELY NO downloading to the hard drives of the library computers. 

  • Staff reserves the right to end a session if inappropriate material displays on the screen. Public access stations and Internet may be used for legal purposes only.

  • Please complete work and printing jobs in a timely fashion, at least ten minutes before closing.
